WordPress Design & Development

WordPress Design & Development

Sanborn has been working with WordPress ever since its release as an open-sourced blog publishing tool. And as WordPress evolved into a content management behemoth that powers over 25% of sites on the internet, we’ve remained ultra committed to staying on the cutting edge of its best practices.

Our approach to WordPress design and development is grounded in engineering things precisely to our clients’ needs— we leverage WordPress’ core functionality without coding against it and we avoid unnecessary bloat or plugins that can slow things down and lead to security vulnerabilities.

Don’t just take our word for it though, you can read our bi-weekly WordPress digests here and check out some of our latest WordPress projects below.

Legendary Entertainment Flexible Content Marketing Site

Legendary Entertainment WordPress Design & Development

Legendary is a media company known for their films and the many other sandboxes they play in (digital, comics, television, etc). Sanborn’s full stack of marketers, designers and developers helped create an immersive experience for each facet of Legendary’s business.

This effort included an entirely new marketing website, with huge emphasis on large format visuals and a high impact user experience. By creating a slick WordPress back-end centered around flexible content modules format, we gave Legendary’s non-technical team the ability to quickly craft custom page layouts by picking and choosing and stacking the most appropriate content building blocks for each property. We also integrated a custom-built recommendation engine in order to tailor users’ experiences based on their interests.

The New York City chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Health is a grassroots organization that provides free services to those with mental health needs. NAMI-NYC Metro wanted a general site makeover and also to make it easier for visitors to find the various classes, groups, and resources.

To achieve this, we built them a clean, custom filtering page so that visitors on both desktop and mobile devices can easily discover the services they need. We also built the site on a fully customizable WordPress CMS so that NAMI’s staff can add classes, groups, events, updates, photos, and other resources as soon as they’re offered.

Major League Soccer (MLS) came to Sanborn looking to drastically increase engagement on a promotional contest effort with Wells Fargo. The “Community MVP” campaign is designed to recognize soccers fans who use the game to make positive change in the world.

We redesigned the entire process of nomination and allowed fans to vote both on site and through twitter. This resulted in a dramatic increase in nominations and votes. Everything is built on top of WordPress, allowing MLS to update content and count nominations and votes in real time.
